Car insurance - being a named driver on your dads policy, is this still legal?

I have just received a quote from more than car insurance as me as a named driver on my dads policy, i have read stuff about fronting and how it can make claims invalid, is it still legal to do this?

Only if you drive the insured car, your fathers car, you cannot buy a car and use his insurance, that is illegal, but as long as you drive your fathers car, yes it is legal
