  1. Yes.  If it is a passenger vehicle and is insured for "collision", it is insured for damage to the vehicle.  You are allowed to give someone else permission to drive the car, and if the car is damaged (and you have "collision"), the damage will be covered - as long as that person is legally allowed to drive.

If your friend does not have a license, or it is suspended, and you gave him permission to drive the car anyway, then you assumed the total risk, and the insurance company will not pay.

It is important that you call the insurance company quickly and report the claim.  Your friend may claim that he was injured in the accident at some point in the future.  Many policies require that you notify the company ASAP so they can investigate the circumstances and find out if there were any injuries.  If you deny them the opportunity to quickly investigate, they can deny the claim.  Lastly, check your deductible.  If you have a deductible of say $1000 and the damage is $1100, it probably makes more sense to not put in a claim for $100 as the cost of your insurance can rise and make up for the $100 they paid you.

  2. you r supposed to have a police report of the events that caused the damage, at the time of the accident. Was your friend a licensed driver?

If you call them and tell them this story they'll deny your claim . Insurance doesn't want to pay anything they don't absolutly have to

  3. You can call and make the claim.

Your company will investigate and see if coverage will apply since someone NOT on your policy was driving your car.

Generally, if this person doesn't live with you, and they haven't driven  your vehicle in the past, then coverage 'SHOULD' be okay.

Now, if you have collision on your policy, your company will cover the damages and you are responsible for your deductible,

If you do not have collision, then you are responsible to fix your car on your own.

    Best of luck

  4. Yes, you can make a claim against your insurance. If I were you, I would ask my friend to pay the deductible. Yes, the claim will go against you.

  5. It is always good to get hold of some good resource at firsthand.here is one of them.http://car-insurance.online-tips.info/ca...

  6. Most preferred or standard companies will allow anyone you give permission to drive the car to be covered. Call your insurance company and get the claim going ASAP. I would also talk to your friend about having them pay your deductible

  7. Harley's answer made me laugh out loud - insurance doesn't want to pay PERIOD, whether or not it's owed.

And you'll never get what you feel you deserve.

You should have called the police to get an accident report & then your insurance company

  8. Call your insurance company and ASK!

  9. You can if you have collision coverage on your car.

If you do not have collision coverage and your friend had your permission to use the car (I.E. - it was not reported to the police as stolen) - then you are S.O.L.

  10. If the car is owned by you and insured by you, the claim would go against you, regardless of who was driving, (assuming your friend is a named driver on your insurance policy).

You may find that for making a claim, your insurer could increase your premiums and reduce your no claims bonus.

Your friend would also have to disclose the accident if he applies for insurance in his own name, but he can make the insurer aware that it happened on someone else's insurance.
