my car insurance renewal is due on the 22 of this month. but i'm 200 dollars short. can i call them and give them a post dated check for a week later

  1. Ask them if you can pay half or switch to monthly billing.  You can even ask if they have a grace period.  In my state, if you're late on a bill the insurance company has to give you 13 days notice before cancelling you.  Many companies don't even have late payment fees.  Just ask them if you can split up the payment or pay the bill a week late.

    Post dated checks are pretty much never accepted, but they may let you pay them a week late.  The company I work for would have no problem with that and wouldn't charge you any fees.

  6. I don't think so. Your best bet is to discontinue it, park the car for a month and start getting quoted elsewere. Chances are you'll save that $200 by having some sistematic and organized quoting sessions.
