I just got off the phone with someone at my car insurance company and they told me that a claims adjuster will get in touch with me. This is my first time doing this so what am I to expect?

  1. Nothing to worry about. Let the insurance deal with. Stay calm and describe to them what happened.

  2. they will send out an adjuster to take a look at your vehicle and write an estimate and secure photos.  From there take the vehicle to a shop of your choice and provide them a copy of the estimate you already received from the ins company.  The check will usually be issued to  you if there is no lienholder or you and the body shop if there is a lienholder or even to you and the lienholder.  You'll need to discuss this with your adjuster.  your check will be less your deductible. For instance  damages are $1500 and you have a $500 deductible then the check would be for $1000

  3. Well, expect a regular investigation. Be as open and coherent about the issue when and where the scratches occurred. Don't add any extra damages (some people do this and get their claims denied). But, otherwise, pay your deductible (if you want the damage fixed) and you should be satisfied. Paint scratches can range from anywhere between $500 to fix and up. It's really ridiculous.

    Hope this helps.

  4. You can expect a claim adjuster to get in touch with you.  What else ?
