I insured my car in september 07. I have had non-stop grief from them. I have not recived a insurance cetificate from them after i have called them several times through the year for 1. Im not even on the database so if i get pulled and unabe to produce im screwed, i cant tax my car and that runs out 2mora so i have no car to get to work in. I keep calling them and they just say its under investigation. I payed £2000 for my insurance could i get compensation because technically i havent been insured

  1. Call their branch (if it is a shop) and sask for the manager - tell him all about it.  Ask for their Head Office number, and talk to Customer Services there.  mention the Insurance Ombudsman (web-search to find it)  I wouldn't have left it so long!  Don't drive without insurance or tax, or it will be you who looks bad.  A judge won't listen to the fact that you have been royally messed about with!

  2. They are required by law to provide an insurance certificate within 24 hours of cover starting.  That can be a temporary cover note.  If they have taken your money and not provided a cover note, there's probably some fraud going on somewhere.

Ring them today.  Tell them that if they have not produced an insurance certificate or cover note within one hour, you will be round with the police.

  3. Yep... I agree... contact insurance ombudsman...

    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/

Good luck... I hate dealing with insurance companies!!!

  4. omg what company is this!!!!!

i work for insurance and you either insured or not there is no inbetween and there should be no reason to investigate the matter!

as you have been chasing the matter for 10 months you have enough of a case to go to the fsa (ombudsman) now they will not be able to do anything by close of business tomorrow but they should definately help you with your issues.

you could get another insurance so you could get your car taxed and then if the fsa take on your case they will help you get your money back but check with them first, i wouldnt want you to be even more out of pocket

make sure you call the dvla to explain or declare as sorn fornow as you really dont want to get a fine for no tax on top of all this...

if you need any more details ie processes ect just let me know

  5. call the insurance ombudsman, and if they show you havent been covered, call the police and ask for the fraud team.

  6. Try to find the chairman or MD of the company and get in touch by phone or email and explain whats happened ,if its a good company you will find that your certificate will arrive very quickly, if nothing happens get in touch with the insurance ombudsman.

  7. Who is this 'insurer' cos they should be reported if what you're saying is true.
