Question:

Car mp3 tape player problem?

I have a auto reverse cassette player in my chevrolet caprice '91. So I bought a cassette adapter to play my mp3 player/ipod on and when I put the tape in, I just heard a clicking noise coming from the cassette player and some static in my speakers. Then I tried it on a regular stereo cassette player and it worked fine. So is it something wrong with the deck in my car or do I need to keep looking for another adapter? An if its the deck is there anyway to fix it?

  1. did u try to play a tape? sounds like the tape player is fried. u may want to invest in a new cd player. like a kenwood that have mp3 hookup

  2. I had the same problem, easily fixable. all you have to do is take the back off of the cassette and move the wire so that it comes out of the other side, there should be an opening on that side as well. The reason you were hearing the clicking sound is because the wheels that spin the tape only go one way. In the same breath, the "spindles" or whatever on the tape itself also only go one way. If the tape goes in upside down, then both of those are trying to go different ways, thus the clicking. When you put the wire on the other side of the cassette, this now allows you to put it in in a way that both are spinning there correct way. This was the problem I had and I asume you are now experiencing. I hope it helps.
