We are told that he car parking fees go to help maintain the National Health Service but Notice most of the car parks are operated by National Car Parks. Given that they don't do it for love, what is their rake off?

  1. That National car parks and National Health service do not have any connection except for similarity of names.

Any saying that it goes towards such and such in parking, is pure bunk. Don't believe it, at least, I don't.

It goes straight into their pockets. It is a cash cow.

That said, I am furious that everytime I need to visit someone at a hospital, I need to pay for parking. It should be automatically be free or some nominal charge of 50 cents. (No, I am not dreaming).

I am totally burning mad about paying for parking at hospitals. I am a captive audience, can't go anywhere and I see them saying to me: "Gotcha". Buggers.

  2. Don't know what amount goes to NHS, but the whole idea of charging out-patients is disgusting. The Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne goes as far as to charge registered disabled people (blue badge holders) with the exemption of dialysis patients. The head of the trust in that area receives large bonus's for saving the NHS money and has been given a knighthood for ripping off sick people. He even charges the doctors, nurses etc. ridiculous amounts to park in the grounds. That's money grabbers for you!
