I own a 1996 ford taurus LX and I have just a standard tape player in it which works with tapes as usual but when I try to put in a car audio tape so I can Play my mp3 or cd player it keeps switching it from tape 1 to tape 2 and then ejects the audio tape..... I have no clue why its doing this does anyone have any idea whats going on or how to fix it.....

I was told it could mean the tape deck needs to be cleaned but It works fine with tapes, just not my audio cd for my car.....

  1. dude i have a taurus also and the best thing to do is get rid of the factory deck and replace it with an aftermarket deck

  2. A lot of auto reverse tape decks will do this if they don't "hear" anything. They see it as the end of the tape and time to reverse. Try starting the mp3 or CD player first so that there is a signal for the Head to "Hear" before it decides it's time to reverse. I used to have to do this in my old nissan. I worked for me.
