  1. have you changed the ignition barrel and key, or had a key cut for your vehicle, as l had this when l had a key cut for my car, the key was chipped and although the key started the car, the brain of the car did not recognise the key and shut the fuel pump down, the car ran for approx 5 seconds and then died, it wasn't something l had considered when l had the key cut. l had to get the key chipped to the cars e c u.

that solved the problem for me, another thing to check is fuel pump relay

  2. Was it running rough before this problem you have now, if it was maybe the fuel filter.  Sounds like what happened to me a few weeks ago when I got some bad gas.  I was going to put some dry gas in there, but my husband said use some fuel injector cleaner instead and it helped.  Another time it was the snorkle that caused it, it was leaking air and running real rough.  Could the timing be off?  Other than that, I dont know.

  3. Ooer! There could be any number of reasons for this problem.

    Bad fuel

Faulty Engine Management Unit (black box)

    Blocked filter

    Faulty Lambda sensor

    Faulty fuel pump

If you suspect the filter - be careful when changing - you may need to de-pressurise the fuel system - or you'll spray fuel all over the place because of the pressure.

Ifthe car was OK until recently - go back and work out from there - where did you re-fuel etc etc

What car is it - ???

I know I had a similar problem with my Rover - turned out not to be anything I thought it could be - it turned out to be a leaking gasket on the fuel injector manifold - water was leaking due to a break in the gasket and it was seeping into the fuel mix as it left the injector - a simple £3 gasket and ten minutes of time cured the problem

  4. If it fires up every time you try it and then cuts out after a 1 second then its the immobiliser Key code it needs to be recoded to the car

  5. your just gonna have to check all your fuel lines and filters possibly even the pump a amall blockage could restrict petrol enough to r****d normal running.

  6. Yes a fuel problem..  check everything  .. If you can't  well have to pay a garage or mechanic.  presume you not in AA or RAC.
