Every once and awhile when i turn or turn on the ac or accelerate when i am stopped for a bit, I hear a loud screech sound from my engine its sounds like a banshee and sometimes its quite startling. I own a 1999 Toyota Camry and I just had the water pump, timing belt, power stearing, and serpentine belt replaced, also I just had new seals put in the engine cause it was leaking oil. What could possibly be causing this screeching to happen?

  1. take it back to the shop and tell the idiot that worked on it to tighten the accessory belt to what it should be! (that is the serpentine belt you replaced)

  2. it sounds like your a/con belt is sliping.. maybe it needs replacing or retightening....

  3. Duuuude is right. Take it back to the shop and have them adjust it. That was one of the belts that was replaced. They didn't do a good job of tensioning it.
