  1. Does this happen when the A/C is running or all the time? This is a normal condition when the A/C is running. Otherwise you may have a dirty or broken Idle Air Control or even your Mass Air Flow sensor.

What's the Year/Model of your car?

  2. Switch off everything, A/C lights etc and see what happens.  If no change then check air filter, renew if very dirty.  Check and if necessary renew plugs.  No Change then try injection cleaner which you add to your fuel tank.

  3. have the idle valve checked (if one fitted)

    check plug gaps

    do a service if ness,

    have the engine tuned..

  4. try a bottle of fuel treatment and a new fuel filter maybe a new air filter

  5. Check your idlying speed. Can be adjusted by small s***w on side of carb mount.

  6. If this is a Ford dating pre-1999 i could tell you everything, upto which s***w goes where, but unfortunatley, i have o idea of which make or model you are talking about. And this is not the sort of thing that tends tohappen by not servicing regularly.

Its sounds very much like an ECU or emissions sensor problem, but until i know which car you referencing to, icant help!
