Car registration and insurance be under different names?

i have just purchased a car (not financing) and i was wanting to put my name down for rego and have someone else stand for insurance is that possible?

  1. Yes, but the registered owner may need to be on the insurance policy as a listed driver. That is how my husband and mother have it set up right now.  He owns the car but is listed on her policy.

  5. I believe what you mean is cars log book is in your name but car will be insured in someone else's name with you as a named driver on their policy.

    Shouldn't be too much of a problem but the insurance will be a bit higher due to the car not being in the log book keepers name. You as a named driver would probably only be covered for "Third Party" insurance cover.
