I'm planning to go to Vancouver later on this summer. To rent a car do I need any special drivers license or anything other than my US passport and California drivers license?

  1. You need to be over 25. And Yes, you do need all off your documents and everything.

  2. Nothing special.... yes need to be 25 but Discount will rent to over 21s at higher rate.

Rates are about $45-$60/day w. unlimited kilometers for econoboxes.

You can get extra insurance packages but pay thru the nose and remember you can decline "optional insurance"

    Most common companies here are:

    www.budget.ca

    www.nationalcars.ca

    wwww.avis.ca

    www.discountcars.ca

  3. You have to be 25, you may need proof of insurance or something like that, call the company specifically to be sure. You may also be charged more if your driving record is not clean.

  4. If you are over 25 those documents and a valid major credit card will be adequate. You might check, as sometimes when coming from someplace in the US it is cheaper to fly to Seattle and rent a car there. Almost all cars rented in Seattle can be driven into Canada without problems. The drive, including the time to cross the border (go through at Lynden-Aldergrove and avoid Blaine) takes a little more than 3 hours. I make the trip with some frequency and sometimes find the airfare to Seattle is so much cheaper than one to Vancouver that the excessive Washington State tax on car rentals is still worth paying, and the drive is not a bad one.

  5. Gas is allmost  $ 6.00 a gallon  why not get a bus pass  $ 8.00  a day
