Car rental without a credit card in Cancun?

Anyone know if there is a company that rents cars in Cancun without a credit card? I am over 25, and have a debit card with visa logo. How much would they hold if they took it?

It varies by company.  Most major car rental companies will accept debit cards but like you say there may be a hold.  Some of the US companies are running credit checks at bigger locations rather than putting holds on.  I would narrow it down to a couple of companies on price, then review their debit card policies carefully before booking.  All the major companies have policies listed on site.

the credit card its neccesary for the insurance, if you dont have one you must leve a deposit... the amount depends of the car and the days to rent...
