My husband wants to restore his 66 Ford Falcon. But he is not quite sure where to start. Engine, Body, Interior etc... Does anyone know of an online guide to help with the process & geared toward classic cars.

Thanks!

  1. engine and all the drivetrain first then the body and last the interior.

  2. Go to car shows, talk to people who have done this, read every old car magazine you can get your hands on then dive in.Good luck and have fun.

  3. just starting anywhere it need work.. really no place you have to start motor and the insides outside and work in dont matter.. lucky man.. i wish he had a feather and i had the car and then i know id be happy... the list is endless

  4. Hello! start with camera.Make pictures step after step. You have to collect every details before you even touch the car.

  5. Start with the motor so you don't damage the new paint and body work and do the interior last so that you and or the dirty mechanics don't damage your new upholstery...remember you get what you pay for...don't skimp quality cost and it is worth it in the end...we are working on several motor only restorations one a 68 Mercedes sl280 and the other a 72 tr6 and we are about 20000 into each

  6. body work..when its in the shop or he is doing the body work while hes got it apart get all of your interior together..so get the interior done..while all the body panels are off do the engine and drive line..after that put your interior together...and then put all the body panels back on.

  7. Amazon.com has a pile of books on restoration even for the 66 falcon .

  8. I START WITH A COMPLETE TEAR DOWN AND THE BODY IS FIRST you can go to the local library and get books to help that is what i did 20 years and 10 complete rebuilds ago

  9. well if it were me i would take care of all mechanical problems before the body and interior.if it doesn't run right ,or isn't safe(steering-brakes,etc) then you don't want it restored or not. pretty is nice but if it stalls at an intersection ,or the brakes fail it won't be pretty long assuming you are around to notice,so my opinion fix mechanical first.........tom
