  1. Yes it is still an issue but I believe that it is the drivers that are the real issue, everyone is in too much of a hurry and we need to all slow down and relearn the rules of the road.

Teenagers are trying to grow up too fast, get their licensees without the true proper training just to get on the road.

Elderly people need help as well but at the same time we do not want to take their freedom away.

We just need to step back and look and see what is happening and maybe the answer is retaking your drivers test every 2 years, it can only help.

  2. Almost all auto manufacturesr are making traction crontrol, stability control, advanced anti lock braking, 6+ airbags, and all kinds of other fancy electronic safety stuff standard on their cars. That's all nice and good (especially for people who never learned how to drive a real car) but the most important issue is teaching drivers how to PREVENT accidents. Everyone should learn to drive (and should continue to drive) cars with manual transmissions, brakes that lock up if you push them too hard, and without computers to tell parts of the car what to do. Many people won't believe it, but the more the driver knows, and the more control THEY have over their vehicle, the less accidents will occour. Given how lazy most American drivers are, that's not likely to happen, but I can dream.

  3. stop being such a cheat you're such a slacker

  4. Safety is all in the attitude and experience. we will always have issues because we constantly have new drivers that are inexperienced and have bad attitudes. all us old timers can do is drive carefully and watch out for the other guy !!

  5. The only time any motor vehicle is 'safe' is when it is unoccupied and the motor is turned off...Any motor vehicle is just a stupid machine -it performs work and only does what it is designed and built for.

If the computer (my brain) behind the wheel is not completely focused on the task of operating my 2000+ lb machine with over 100 hp, then I am going to wreck it and chances are somebody's gonna get hurt - or worse...The info from the government, the insurance industry and the vehicle manufacturers about the 'safety' of any vehicle is a lie.

And until the human brain is taken from behind the wheel, survivability on the road will always be an issue.

  6. omg safety will always be an issue always because there will always be that company finding the loopole

  7. If computers can drive cars for humans, then yes, things will get safer. Also, if trains & public transportation get better, this will also help.

You have a 1/270 chance of facing your demise as a result of a car accident.

If at some time, more employees began telecommuting to work, that too, will help.

  8. not for me

  9. Cars are about as safe as we are going to get them.   Most  improvements now will be built on,  or fine tuning,  current technology.

To truly make the highways safer,  we need to work on better drivers.   There is inadequate training for most,  no penalty for misbehaving,  and a mentality that a driver's license is a right.   That is not the case,  it clearly states in the front of the handbook it is a privilege,  and can be revoked by the state.   They  need to get serious and revoke a few.

  10. Car safety is really not the issue. The manufacturers could make the very utmost safe car and still a driver would find a way to s***w it up. I say let's not blame the car maker and make the driver responsible for his/her actions and leave the auto manufacturer alone for a change.
