Car seat in a Toyota Tacoma (not extended cab). Is it illegal?

It's a '98. My husband seems to think he can do it. I'm pretty sure it's illegal. Advice please. Thanks.

Its not illegal. Its not incredibly safe. But not illegal. If there is an airbag - it MUST be deactivated or shut off. You can NOT under any circumstances put a child in the front of a vehicle with an airbag. So it has to be shut off - if it doesn't have a button to shut it off, you have to take it to a mechanic or the dealer to let them deactivate it.

And I would definitely limit the time the child is in the truck. Pickup trucks get poor safety ratings anyways - and the front seat is always less safe for a child anyways. I would also take the car seat to a seatcheck so you can make sure its installed correctly or learn how.

Same question, different vehicle and same answer......check with your local police department as well as with your local fire department so that they can give you the correct answer.

Should be ok as long as its a forward facing car seat but my suggestion would be to find the local number for you police department and call them and ask

well the problem is when you have an air bag on the passenger side and so thats very dangerous... if he can shut off the passenger side air bag he should be okay
