  1. Ignore the last answer as they know nothing about cars. Sounds like a good price to me, we'd charge around 850 so its in the ballpark for four struts installed with an alignment

  2. Good shocks cost $30 - $45. apiece. Struts cost $100 each. You din't say what year of car. Just buy good quality and put'em on yerself. If they're bad, you'll have increased tire wear, increased suspension wear & really bad handling.

  3. Shop around. Midas, Mineke,Mom&pop shop, you'll see a major price change.

  4. if you don't replace them the car will 'float' you will go over a bump and the car will keep bouncing for some time after. this car be dangerous on a rough road as it can get very unsettled. also the difference between a good shocker and worn shocker in a braking test is 4 mts or something like that.

i got my shockers and struts done recently on my car for 366 AUS dollars, that's installed.

the ride will be a lot harder because the shockers are working how they should. it makes the car much nicer to drive though. make sure you go a decent brand.

a test you can do, press on one corner of the car and bounce the car up and down, when you let go the car should settle within 3 bounces.  when mine needed to be done it took about 6, they are now down to 1.5 with the new ones..

    good luck and drive safe!!

  5. Don't listen to dr. car guy. he is an a**.

go to another shop and get another estimate. should cost you 600 bucks for all corners.

    Good luck!
