Can the subwoofers be installed without a box or do they need to be in the box? What's the difference beside the price of the speaker?

  1. only freeair subwoofers could be ran without a box other then that a box is recommended

  2. if you install a sub without a box it will ruin it fast trust me get a simple box for 35 bucks or less. not only do u have to have a box but it has to have the right amount of air space and each sub is different id go to your local stereo shop they can tell you also u can have your brother or dad make you one they are easy just make sure there is no leaks and just be careful s******g it in that you dont slip and stab the woofer with your screwdriver

  3. inside speakers don't usually require a box but if you are referring to subs 9 out or 10 need a box unless they are free air (made to be mounted without a box)

if you put free air subs in a box it must be big and ported, and you cant put them in sealed boxes at all

if a sub is designed to be in a box and you don't use one the sub will be destroyed

  4. u dont need a box but u cant tell u have subs with out one...get a box for bout $50.00 bucks
