I have a '93 Nissan Sunny 1.6 (fuel injected). The problem with the car is that the engine stalls. If you put the clutch down when the engine is running at over approx 1,500 rpm, the revs fall to around 500 rpm. The rev counter needle jumps up to around 1,000, then the engine speed drops to around 300 rpm, then jumps up a little again, then stalls.
The strange thing is that the engine idles perfectly fine if I put either the parking or headlights on. The engine comes off the revs fine and immdiately idles around 800 rpm.
Could the problem be the mass air flow (MAF) sensor? Or electrical? Any ideas? (no points for "drive with your lights on", "scrap it" etc :-)
