I have a 13 month old car and a couple of times when I have been pulling away from standstill the I have pressed the accelerator, released the clutch and the car judders for about half a second and then cuts out.

Any idea what the problem is?

  1. The clutch on that car seems to have quite a high catching point so to speak- more revs needed when setting off, and bring the clutch up slower.

If its not your driving, then the clutch isn't catching and you need to take to a garage to find the problem.

  2. You might be letting the clutch go to fast. Slowly let go of the clutch always on first gear(Its the trickest). 2nd 3rd 4th and fifth you can let it go faster.......

  3. Could be any number of things. I would take it to a garage my self.

  4. Has anyone else driven this car?

If so, did they have the same problem?

If yes, consult a mechanic. If no, your pedal control needs correcting!

  5. Because of the age of it it should have come with a guarantee, take it back to the manufacturer and let them deal with it. Could just be a fault in the clutch

  6. Is it a Mondeo by any chance?

  7. i know this might sound stupid but did u leave the hand brake on?

  8. Take the handbrake off.

  9. Your lifting up the clutch too fast. u need more acceleration

  10. There could be several reasons for this, first if we assume that you are driving the car correctly then possibly the engine is still cold. If the problem was all the time I would say that there may be a problem with your car fuel/ignition. However as its only every now and then I suspect you need to warm the car up in the morning.

    Ja.

  11. It could be that your gear selector has gone. Instead of pulling away in first gear, you may be accidently selecting third.

Try pulling away in second, and give it a little more power. Lift the clutch very slowly.

If this resolves the problem, then it is possible you may need the gear selector changing.
