I have a 2003 Chrysler Sebring Lxi Coupe. Yesterday I got a new battery and ever since the new battery was put in, the car won't idle without the blower turned on. It will start but then die right away. If the blower is turned on medium or high it was start and stay on.

I told Advanced Auto (the people that installed the battery) and they said there is nothing they can do. Thanks alot! PLEASE HELP ME! Thank you!

  1. "Nothing they can do."  That's why I don't let the parts places do any work on my car.  Yeah, they can test stuff - but don't let them go twisting any fasteners anywhere.

Your car has an idle-up doohickey that turns the idle speed up when the AC is turned on, so the engine won't stall while idling with that load on.  Can you, with the AC off, add just a bit of gas pedal and keep the engine going that way?  If so, it's possible that the EFI computer is just a little wonky from having its brain turned off for a while.  A lot of injection systems are constantly tuning the car as it's running; when they are first installed or after having the batteries removed, a lot of EFIs are kind of lousy at running an engine until they've had some time back on the job.

If it doesn't straighten itself out in a day or two, you'd better take it by a shop that works on Chrysler stuff and tell them your problem.  In order to make it work, TURN THE AC OFF.  That way the EFI can see the revs dropping too low and make the effort to catch it and keep it where it belongs.

  2. When you turn on your a/c that brings the idle of the car up.  You might be having a problem with the throttle position sensor or idle air control valve.  Installing a battery doesn't involve anything except the positive and negative cables. look under your hood at the battery. See if there is a wire next to you battery that is not connected (maybe a black wire)
