Question:

Car stereo No Sound?

The stereo was working fine, and then suddenly the sound stopped. The stereo is still on and can "play" CDs and switch radio stations but no sound comes out.

I checked the back wires and they are plugged in, and I checked the fuse box and no shorts...

what might be wrong? And how much do you think it will cost to repair?

  1. If you have an aftermarket radio, and you know how to re-connect the wiring....I would disconnect all the speakers one at a time...to see if it starts working afterwards, you might have a (one) blown speaker that is shorting out the whole system.

  2. well if none of the speakers are working, then I think the problem is behind your stereo, where all of the speaker wires are connected.  if it is a newer car, you could have a separate amplifier somewhere where the problem is.  It could be just a wiring fix, or it could be a blown amplifier which could cost money.
