Car stereo/amp/subwoofer question?

Question

I have a a kicker amp and sub wired to my factor2002 Pontiac Grand Prix stereo. First off there was no real remote wire to wire the amp to, so it is wired to a live wire. Anyways, the stereo pops occassionally when it is off mainly. Sometimes it is really loud and sometimes it does more of a rumble that lasts a few seconds. Is this related to the remote wire problem or is it possibly a different problem all together? Could there be a problem with the amp?

take it to a car audio shop they can identify the problem for free and if you want fix it.
