I took my car stereo out of the dash and put it back in but then when i turned on my car, the cd play wont turn on. Not only that the instrument cluster light wont turn on either so i dont know the rpm and speed im going when its dark. Any ideas? Maybe its just a blown fuse or something?

  1. probably just a fuse, check the stereo fuse.....

  2. it might be the fuse in the car or a relay

  3. yep, its a fuse.

i bet you did not use a wiring harness for the installation of that stereo, so you had to cut into the original cables of the car.

get a wiring harness, should be 10-15 bucks... and will make your stereo installation much easier and faster. plus, since all the wires on the harness will match the wires in the stereo... you will know it will work from the first time you put it on.

as far as fuses go... check the stereo fuse first, should be a 5A fuse.

and check the fuse box for other blown fuses. use a dmm or a "testing light" because sometimes when the short is small and a fuse blows... it will not look like its blow. the whole metal piece will look normal.
