Car stereo doesn't power on...?

Alright so in my friend's 2001 Saturn SL1 we wanted to change the stereo, got the proper wiring hookup and plugged it all in properly wires corresponding with where they were supposed to go, but it doesn't turn on.

We figured well maybe it's a problem with the stereo, so tried the OEM radio, and it too now won't turn on, no lights, nothing.

I checked all the fuses to make sure none of them popped due to the new radio but they are all perfectly fine...

Ideas?

  1. i think its a wire connection    double check all that..get a tester and test the power wire

  2. is there a fuse on the back of the deck? i would check that. then double check that u have gotten all the wires connected right with solid connections. then u said u checked fuses. did u check them with the igtion switch turned on right?  thats what i can think of. hope that helps

  3. check both the radio and electric fuses.  you need both.

that's what the problem was in my car.
