  1. girl, my mini didn't have no stereo when i bought it neither!

    and that ain't no lie.

and i am telling you dat i had to search high and low for one to fit it

    it wuz crazy

and i had to loosed all sorts of weight to fit into that tiny car

    it was ridiculous

  2. Mini radio's were pretty simple in those days. You should take the radio power lead to the fuse box under the bonnet and connect the ground to earth - the rest of the wires are probably irrelevant!

If you are not sure what to do then get friendly mechanic to take a look for you - no point in destroying a good radio - which may be worth more than the car ;-)

If you can be more specific about which model Mini you have then I'll look at the wiring diagrams in my Haynes manual.

Further: Briony - what engine size? Would it be the Mini 1000 Saloon - triple instrument facia? If so then contact me via the Answers email service and let me have your email address (don't publish it here!) and I'll scan the wiring diagram for you. However, I don't think it will tell you any more than I have already told you - connecting live to fuse box and black to earth.
