Question:

Car stereo has no sound?

This is an older radio/tape deck in Nissan. Radio seems to work fine, but no sound from speakers. Not even a crackle. Have checked all fuses. Not very technical so any help would be appreciated. Are there any other fuses (apart from the car ones) or could both speakers blow at the same time? Help! I need my radio to keep me sane.

  1. Did it just stop working or was it like that when you got it. If it just stopped, the radio probably went out and you'll need a new one. If it was like that when you got it, the speakers may not even be hooked up.

  2. check the speakers are ok,you can do this by using a 1.5 volt aa,c or d battery with a couple of wires on it,the speaker will crackle when you touch power to it,could be a shorted speaker wire or the output on radio is blown, its not too hard to replace the radio but the speakers may need rewiring so best to get a proffesional to do it,my work would charge approx $230 for a new cd tuner fully installed depending on the model of car &ant decent audio shop like where i work wouldnt charge you yo check what the prob is for you.

  3. it could have an old Simon and Garfunkel tape stuck inside which would be the sounds of silence.

  4. it could be a number of reasons, some cars have factory installed amps for the speakers, the radio does not power the speakers

the external amp could be blown, not receiving the "turn on signal" (remote wire), or the radios audio output could be fried

more info will help pin point the problem
