Question:

Car stereo hook up?

I just installed a after market stereo in my car(2001 neon). My question is the car wires have and orange wire labelled"radio illumination dimmer" where does that usually hook up on the stereo? Noticed there really is not a whole lot of light on the display screen which makes it seem like it is blurry when you look at it at an angle.

  1. the dimmer hooks to the headlight switch.

when you turn on the headlights, the stereo dims so you aren't blinded by it at night...

  2. there should be a matching wire in your car wire harness that it connects to.... what that basically does is it dims the stereo's screen light down when you turn on your headlights, because that tells the stereo that it's dark out and you don't need it to be annoyingly bright at night.

so if your problem is that the screen isn't bright enough in the first palce, I'm afraid that's just gonna make things worse, espcially at night! the blurry factor is directly related to the stereo itself and the way the display screen is designed... nothing you can do there... sorry!

One thing to try though, there might be a brightness setting that you can adjust to make it brighter and see how that goes!

    good luck!
