Car stereo overheating??

my last stereo i had used to get rreaaaallllly hot .. when i take the CDs out they used to be nearly untouchable... and then after 30 mins of having the stereo on it would make a high pitched squeeky noise... but when i pushed it backwards it would stop... then it completely died...

now i have a new one and it get really hot aswell... i dont want this one to die .... help me please :D lol

  1. Modern stereos do tend to run quite hot, but a short on the speaker wiring could cause this over heating problem and damage the stereo. best to get your speaker wiring checked out for shorts


  2. You might have some short in your stereo. Is this factory stereo or aftermarket? I never have any problem like this.

  3. The stereo is right under the hot air outlet, is it not?

  4. Is the power hooked up to constant?

    You have to make sure the deck is shutting off when the car is not running or else you are over heating it.

    How to check you ask :P .... pull out the deck get a meter turn the car off and see if you get a reading..... how to fix it if this happens you ask... you are hooked up to the wrong power wire.. go to bull dog installation website and it will give you an entire diagram ...

  5. Your car has a poorly designed dashboard without sufficient ventilation for stereos. You could try to modify the aperture a bit.
