Question:

Car stereo pops at turn on?

I have a newer Pioneer car stereo it has 2 amps hooked up to it. One for front and rear speakers and one for subs (currently not being used; turned off). There has never been any poping or noise. I recently went out of town when I returned, I put face plate back on and a loud squeal then pop and no sound. I have checked all connections to amps and stereo, as well as checked power and grounding at all locations including at battery. I have now got sound, however I have a pop at turn on and lots of excess noise...anyone with any suggestions.

  1. Your amp is messed up. I would re wire all of the amps to make sure.

  2. try running one amp. see what happens. or reverse the polaritys. if you can still hear noise in you sub. try earthing off the outer of your sterio deck. sometimes works. other then that your amp may be faulty, go to an autoelectrical place

  3. sounds like you blew a speaker or bottomed out a voice coil.

  4. This might help you,

I had a similar problem just out of the blu, i eventually after alot i mean alot of wasted very stressfull hours, i found out that pioneer head units have a earth fuze in the unit and when i unplugged one of my rca`s from the amp when it was on  somehow it sent a static charge back to the deck and blew the fuze, i fixed the problem by connecting a earth wire to the rca`s plug (outside) on the back of the head unit to a good earth, and walla it fixed all my problems.
