I never had a problem with my car's factory stereo system, but I installed an aftermarket one yesterday and there is noise--high-pitched sound that increases as the engine RPM increases! This new radio comes with an in-line filter; a little box with components and fuses attached to the power cables which is supposed to filter out noise, but apparently it's not doing it's job. How can I get rid of this noise? Do all after-market stereos do this? My car is a Toyota Camry.

  1. you need to install a noise filter

  2. I have the same problem. I think it's because of the way the wires are run..

  3. You have what's called alternator whine. Try grounding the cd player in a different location other than on the factory harness. This wire usually makes a very poor ground due to it's length, small wire gauge, close proximity to other power wires, and unknown termination point. Instead, ground the source unit directly to the chassis or firewall.

  4. this might sound stupid but it works.

try cutting the head unit ground wire totally. the antena wire would be the ground of your HU.
