ok i have a 2001 toyota corolla and want to upgrade the awful speakers in it, my dad has been pretty useful so far(he has done this before to his past cars, but along time ago)

and we decided to replace all four speakers in it add tweeters to the dash and a sub(maybe 2) in the trunk with a amp

the only thing is my dad only knows brands that were good in the 70's

so what are good brands for everything, the speakers, amps, subs, tweeters

evarything

and im on a budget but not a huge one

thanks

  1. Alpine is still rated best by consumer reports for 4 years running..

  2. If you are on a budget look into hifonics for amps, and for subs look into kicker, alpine, mtx, and Fi, and DD, and Re's lower end subs. And for mids and highs=alpine, kicker, and even Re, and DD audio make some high end sets for only $95-$150 and its a component set, and 6x9's are $100-$150.

And if you need a budget head unit, look into jvc, pioneer, kenwood, etc...

    Hope I helped.

  3. You can't go wrong with Pioneer, Polk, or Infinity speakers on a budget.  Pioneer amps are still hard to beat at any price.  Tweeters are more show than necessary.

Bazooka powered subs are also good for budget minded sound.

    All my opinion of course.

  4. Pioneer and Polk are okay, not the best by far though. Infinity if you like the harshness of the tweeters, other wise there is much better out there. Alpine Type R or if you have the money Type X, love the silk dome tweets. Then there is CDT Audio, great company with great product, also Elemental Designs. CDT, and Elemental Designs on the other hand, Pioneer and Polk can not even begin to compare. CDT and Elemental Designs offer 150 watt RMS component speakers, Right now ED has a pre production sale going on a new set of 6.5" component speakers that they are making for and intro price of $185. Nothing out there with 150 watts RMS is going to compete with this price. Elemental Designs only offers them in 6.5" while CDT offers in many sizes.

As for amps, Pioneer is over rated as they are way over done, too commonly used. Bidget wise there is the old faithful Crunch which are CEA-2006 compliant and cost less than Pioneer amps.

Subs Elemental Designs has those as well, I would suggest either the Ov line or the 13Av.2. 13Ov.2 is $175 and sounds better than the Alpine Type R and are 1000 watts RMS. 13Av.2 is $295 and competes with the W7 from JL Audio. Everything from Elemental Designs comes with a 5 year warranty and they will answer any question that you may have.
