Question:

Car stuttering and spitting

I have a 94 Ford Taurus. It skips, stutters, spits. It calms down a lot after driving it some but i have been told two different stories. One said its the head leaking water into motor and one said it needs a tune up and has a hole in the exhaust making it where you hear the stutters in the front. It also has this problem when you make a turn without slowing way down first and press the gas in mid turn it jumps and jerks real quick. Any advice???

  1. An exhaust leak shouldn't be difficult to pinpoint if there is one. This needs to be done regardless.

As expensive as gas is these days, a tune up is not a bad idea. If that fixes the problem fine.

If not, have the cooling system pressure tested. This will verify whether you have a leaking head gasket or not. Any well equiped garage should be able to do this for you. A head gasket replacement is not cheap, but it shouldn't cost more than 2 or 3 car payments :-0
