Car title and insurance

hi my sister is sending me her car on Monday with the title. If I go to the DMV that day with the title will I be able to drive the car that day? I will also be callign my insurance agency to add the car - does that take more than a day? thank

You can drive the car with the title in her name as long as the tags are valid until you can get the title to the dmv.  Also, insurance shouldn't take longer than an hour.

No, it doesn't take longer than a day.

If you go to DMW, you will get your new license plate the same day and can drive the car.  And you can add the car to your insurance policy over the phone, just have your VIN number ready.
