the car runs great.. in good condition.. all i've had to do is oil changes and get a new battery a few weeks ago... anyways, while driving today i was in drive in an idle slowing to a red light, then i had to accelerate... but suddenly had no response in the engine, the car slowed to a stop and began "rumbling" ...as if i was running out of gas... it then died, it starts right up, rumbles for a few seconds, maybe moves an inch or so if put in drive, then dies again....

what could this be? ...i'm not that educated in vehicle maintenance

  1. Out of gas, bad fuel pump or possibly a mass airflow sensor. (should set check engine light on)

  2. I would hazard to say its your fuel pump.  If you tap the fuel tank with a rubber mallet a couple of times and see if it starts up, then you know its your fuel pump for sure.  If it does start up again, go get it changed, as you may not get another chance to get it to the garage without having to tow it.

  3. do you have a check engine light on ???? you should check that out first ....
