  1. Sounds like loose connections somewhere.  Have a parts store like Autozone check your starter for you, if the starter is good, then there is probably a loose connection somewhere in your electrical system.

  2. al answers are right starter  clean your battery posts starter selenoid  if you have fuses under the hood check the fuses to

  3. im gonna need you to provide more details such as: what kind of car (make/model/year ect) but it sounds like your starter soleniod has gone out completely, or the starter itself has failed. either way on that your looking at less than 150 bucks to fix it.

it could also be a bad fuse that controls your starter relay. i would try replacing that first. it is located in your engine compartment in a little black box. there is a diagram located on the lid of the box so you will know which one to get.

email back for additional info- its hard to diagnose a mystery car.

  4. i agree with consensus, however on your battery cable there is a little unknown wire that no one has mentioned, it a grounding wire, if this is not making a connection, nothing you do will allow the car to start!  i'd start there, then clean your cables, then go to the starter, then the voltage regulator, if nothing start at step two, check all your belts, check all the fluid levels, replace positive cable if replacing starter.  further dx, would be air filter, fuel filter(s) and anything further you should get a mechanic!

    good luck!♥

  5. Keep it simple. Clean the battery terminals and posts.

  6. Starter silanoid, this is mis spelled , but that where you can start :)   Older cars have the sylanoid, still can not spell that part,on the fender wall under the hood and others have it mounted right on the starter. On the starter is a lot tougher to replace than the one on the fender wall, also starter relay switch you can check ,the easy fix is just a fuse blown .

  7. IT'S THE SOLENOID IF IT'S A FORD&THE STARTER IF IT'S A CHEVY.NEED MORE INFO.

  8. I can't believe everybody who answered forgot to tell you to get a volt meter.  Half of life's problems require a volt meter to solve, and this right here is sure one of them.
