my engine diagnostics warning light has came on my peugeot 206, is it still safe to drive it till i can get to a garage or should i go to one straight away, first thing in the morning.

  1. If you live near an autozone. (not sure where you are from) an employee there can connect to your car using an obd 2 scanner and read the diagnostic code to tell you what the problem is. Where i am from they do this for free. You can probably get this done at a local shop as well, but probably for a fee.

    The employees usually are not very helpful when it comes to troubleshooting, but you can take that code and go from there.


  2. Depends what the code(s) are. It might be safe to drive. I would avoid autozone and their free check engine light reads. I have people coming into my shop on a daily basis with parts in their hands asking us to install them. I get a kick out of it but I gladly take their money. Autozone employees are not diagnosticians, if they were, they wouldn't be working there for 8 bucks an hour. Anyone can pull a code, but diagnosing what is actually the culprit takes skills autozone employees dont have.
