Alright, this is going to be very hard for me to desribe but i was driving today and out of nowhere my car started to make this ratting noise. it sounded like it was maybe coming from the back. then eveytime i pushed my breaks it was almost like they were resisting me. i was scared to go over 15 mph. and my car just kept making that rattling, almost thumping noise. I pulled over into a parking lot, turned off my car and just sat there for a few minutes. when i started driving again, my car was fine. i know it's probably very vague details, but does anyone have any idea what that might be? (i also just got my brakes down no more than a few months ago)

and another thing... my car, since i've had it, kinda drags. A few seconds after i accelerate, it almost feels like its pulling back. Anyone know what that could be, too?

Thanks guys.

  1. Check to make sure your e-brake isn't set.

  2. Id take my car back where ever you had them serviced and have them inspect them. What it sounds like is either a loose caliper or something seized. It probably didn't go away when you turned off the car. By pulling back do you mean the motor feels like its loosing power or just working harder to move the vehicle.

  3. One of two things, More then likely #1. Sounds like the "Brake Hardware in the Rear Brakes Came loose or Broke, #2 is the Rear End Bearings but since it went away "Temporally" then look at the Rear Brakes.

  4. year make n model will help some, brakes could be bad rotors, bearings, and some cars the abs unit could be bad, could be bad torque converter

  5. Take the emergency brake off

  6. Sounds like brake problems. My mom had her brakes worked on once. The front right pad was grinding against the caliper so bad you could see sparks. Some good job they did.

  7. Did you happen to check and see if there was a body underneath???

It actually sound like you may have a brake problem on a rear wheel. If you just had the brakes worked on, I would say they may have overlooked something. My advice would be to go back to the shop and have them lok at it. Better yet, Call them. They will probably send a mechanic over there to look at it. If they messed up they could be held liable if anything was to happen, they will do what they can to make it right and you won't risk having an accident by driving to them.

  8. at least the rattle noise must have fixed it self. now about the car holding back, check your parking brake to see if it,s off. if it off up by the driver, it might be hanging up back by the wheels.

  9. it sounds like you have something that has came loose in the back brakes on it ,have a shop pull a rear wheel off and check this,if  is it, will damage the rear shoes on it,either way you need to have someone take a look at it for you, something could have came loose in the rear brakes that's causing this, good luck.
