Car turning over, but won't start.?

OK, I have a 1999 Ford Expedition. I drove it around town the other day and came back home and turned off the engine. I came back down and tried to start it and it would turn oer, but not start. After a few times trying, the battery went dead. I changed the fuel filter, with no luck. I also bought a fuel pressure gauge and everything is OK. I brought my battery up and tried charging it thinking maybe it was my key because I have the antitheft system key, but no. This time, though, it almost started. Any help?

  1. if you try starting & it does not fire up ---smell of fuel would point to flooding --no smell --dissconect  fuel hose and chk if fuel is reaching the cylinders (pump) but before doing anything first make sure you have fuel

  2. If you pour gas down the intake and it cranks up and quits...you need a fuel pump.

  3. hold the pedal to the floor and try starting it. if it's flooded this will help clear out the extra gas

  4. Pour coke on your battery terminals and tighten them up a lot. There is a good chance that you're just not getting a great connection which will cause said problem. Try getting the cables very tight on the terminals and see if that helps. The acid in the coke will remove any erosion on the battery post which also could help. Hope this works.

  5. I had a Honda Accord that did this.  If I turned the key on for about 5 minutes  without cranking it, it would start.

  6. Can you "Pull the Fuse for the Alarm System" Will let it Crank but not start. Are you getting spark at the Plugs? Anti-Theft System may be the Problem, Need to disconnect it from the System, if that is it get it fixed.
