Car was left running with a/c on now a burning smell. what do i look for or what do i do?

mom had to be rushed to the hospital and i had left the car running with the a/c on for hours until my brother picked it up. there is now a burning smell, where would it be coming from and what should i check or do?

The engine will have overheated. Check the oil and coolant level, but there should be no lasting damage.
