It sounds like it is out of gas (but it isn't). The starter clicks and makes the starting noise, but the engine doesn't start.

is the battery dead? Fuel injectors? What coulc it be?

Thanks

  1. That's a big ole hard to answer...could be any of the above, all of the above, none of the above. Plus things like timing chains/belts, fuel pumps,  etc - doesn't sound like something that has come out of no where for you - so it could be something as simple as a dead battery that sounds ok (starter) but can't git er done. Start with a diagnosis - most garages can give you a general idea within a 1 flat rate hour. $65-$80 depending on where you go. Stick to recommendations from friends, or maybe the local ford dealer. If you are a DIY type person - check the battery - look for bad corrosion (white clumpy junk on terminals - dont touch it and then your pants or eyes - bad burns) - and if it can be opened to check for water - see if it has any - again - watch the eyes. I added water to a battery once and don't you know a G__ D___ drop cam flying back out and got my eye. So be careful w batteries is all I'm saying. Good luck,

  2. if it's getting gas and has spark to the plugs it has to go.

  3. Could be almost anything.  Check the usual suspects: Air, Fire, Fuel.

Check your air filter and be sure it isn't just clogged tight.  Be sure you're getting spark to the plugs, be sure the fuel is flowing.

My first kneejerk check in this situation: distributor cap center wire, coil, fuel filter, fuel pump.  Any of those things would let the engine spin just fine and never catch; you'd have noticed the air filter going bad.

  4.   Have someone check the fuel system. This vehicle's pump may need attention.

                                  "BRILLIANT"!!!!

  5. if the starter is is spinning over fast  and turning the engine the battery is not flat .have you checked to see if you have a spark?

    good luck h

  6. sounds like a stuck return valve in the fuel line - supposed to stop the fuel returning to the tank.  To check there shud be a little pump / primer around the fuel pump or on the line (usually a bigish button or squeezy thing) - keep pushing this until it gets hard which manually pulls the fuel up the fuel line into the fuel pump then into our engine...

  7. The fuel filter itself can be a big problem surprisingly when it starts getting dirty. replace it, and if that doesn't work try to spark plugs.

  8. Found On Road Dead..trash it and get a foreign vehicle.

  9. if it sounds like it is out of gas, then it probably is. the gas tank may have gas in it, but the engine may not be getting any gas. i would check the gas lines, pick up lines, fuel pump, fuel filter, any leaks, vacuum leaks. my best bet is a fuel pump or the pick up lines.
