Carabbein Cruise Help?

Question

Would you say that going to the south of the Carabbein would be more exciting than the North (including parts of America)?

I am taking a cruise next year and need to know which cruise I should take.

It all depends on what you would like to see and do.  Eastern Caribbean itineraries are great for shopping -- the ships typically stop in St. Thomas (the absolute best shopping), San Juan and St. Martin.

Western Caribbean itineraries typically head off to the Cayman Islands, Jamaica and Mexico (sometimes also parts of Central America) -- super beaches, snorkeling and diving, and historical sites.

Southern Caribbean itineraries head down to the islands that are more "unusual" and less frequented by cruise ships.  If you've been on a lot of cruises and are tired of St Thomas and Cozumel, heading south is a good idea for something different.  But if this is your first cruise, save the south for later -- southern Caribbean cruises tend to be longer and more expensive.

Several cruise lines have itineraries that include stops in the Bahamas (Nassau), Key West, and Bermuda.  Great beaches, shopping and colorful bars.

To help decide which cruise might be best, you might want to consider the ship and the cruise line.  Each has its own "character" and most of the major lines have ships that sail both Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries in the winter months.

I did the Western Caribbean this past March on Royal Caribbean and it was amazing. We got a great deal too!

the activities you do OFF the ship are what make the trip fun... so choose some great activities and have fun!

I prefer western and southern, to me the ports of calls are better. I have another southern planned for next year, great itinerary, seven days with one day at sea, on the adventure of the seas. Check it out.

Usually the Caribbean is broken up into western, eastern and southern.  The north would be the USA and I don't know of any cruises that feature US ports, though many Caribbean cruises start and end in a US port.  

Nonetheless, I think the south would be more interesting, as the north would include mainland North America and I live here.  I would rather travel to some place different.

To get an idea of what the different lines and ships and ports are like, go to the library and check out some books about cruising.  Also, go to CruiseCritic.com, "Boards" and "Reviews" and get lots of info and post questions you may have.

It depends on what you want to do. The Eastern is really good for shopping, where Western has lots of history in Mexico. All three areas are good for water activities like SCUBA and snorkeling. I would suggest Southern if you are looking for great beaches. Southern can be a little longer maybe 10 nights is it leaves from Florida but you can do 7 night Souther from San Juan or other places in the Caribbean.
