Do you think that some of the stuff we are being advised to do "in order to reduce our carbon footprint" is well-meaning but sometimes impractical?

  1. I think we should do everything that we can to reduce our personal carbon footprint but the reality is that unless big business and corporations do the same we are fighting a losing battle as their C02 emissions are much greater than any one person. That doesn't mean we shouldn't do everything we can because every little bit helps and encourages other to do the same so eventually big business and corporations will be forced to change.

  2. Yes - some of it is. Planting tree's to off-set emissions from flights for instance, is just nonsense in my view. Also, biofuels end up causing more environmental damage than the prevent - see my answer to this question: http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind...

It's all part of the government's attempt to shift the responsibility for combating global warming to the public, rather than taking the drastic measures they need to change our means of energy production and cut industrial emissions.

There are practical things we can do to save energy, cut down on waste and generally play our part, but unless the government and industry start taking real action it will all be for nothing.

  3. I don't think becoming carbon neutral will actually do anything. I am all for recycling and cutting down on what we use but CO2 does not affect the global temperature.
