  1. There are no pros.  No tax is good.

  2. Environmental taxes are good for a simple reason.

Clean water, air etc are essentially worth nothing in conventional economics. But if they are polluted there is a cost to clean them up.

The idea is to tax pollution because it reduces the value of a resource (balancing the books in accounting terms).

Carbon tax says that putting carbon dioxide into the air is devalueing the environment. So a business that does this should be taxed while one that doesn't is not taxed.

The main probelm is that the beauracracy might not get it right, so the result is some polluting industries being encouraged while some non polluting industries being discouraged.

  3. It will help to reduce the carbon emmission of the ecosystem by charging those find faulting the carbon emmission limit.YOu will be taxed for emmisson ie the amount oif carbon your factory or organisation produces from its industries as by products.

  4. Fossil fuels are already heavily taxed. The idea of adding so-called carbon taxes in hopes of reversing climate change is bad.

Humans have only a minor, if any, impact on the climate compared to natural causes. Adding carbon tax will not reduce demand for fuel enough to matter to the climate. New taxes will push some businesses into bankruptcy but increased outsourcing to China will pick up the slack. Thus whatever fuel is conserved in the U.S. will be burned in Asia and you know the Chinese aren't buying into Al Gore's Chicken Little act.
