  1. Look under "sources" on this link.

    http://www.epa.gov/iaq/co.html

We found their was a crack in our furnace and there was CO leaking when some pets all died on the same night. Even though we were heartbroken about the pets we were lucky the levels were low or we could have died.

    Vehicle exhaust is one source.

  2. it can come from a bad furnace.

Common sources of CO that may lead to poisoning include house fires, furnaces or heaters, wood-burning stoves, motor vehicle exhaust, and propane-fueled equipment such as portable camping stoves, ice resurfacers,[3] forklifts,[4] engine-driven generators,[5] and gasoline-powered tools such as high-pressure washers, concrete cutting saws, power trowels, floor buffers, and welders used in buildings or semienclosed spaces.

  3. it detects carbon monoxide...

and beeps when it detects it... haha

In case you dont know, carbon monoxide is an oderless, invisible gas that can be deadly to humans. I think it's usually found in exhaust and stuff like that...

  4. A carbon monoxide is a deadly, odorless gas,and is very important to get it if you have a home by buildings that use exhaust fan because your at higher risk.
