  1. Float out of adj or trash in the needle seat>Something went in the reeds and is holding it open>

  2. In a 2 stroke 70H.P Veinrude, the spitting of fuel back through the carb can be caused by excessive fuel - a carb problem- and/or a reed valve problem.  It can also be an early indicator of engine failure.... compression leaking by rings that are failing and are gouging the cylinder wall.  A problem which plaged the 3 cylinder Evinrudes.  So, carefully check each of these areas and make repairs as needed.  Good Luck!!!!

  3. If its a reed valve motor, you could have a broken or completely fatigued red valve allowing reversion(leakage of pressure meant to be used for forcing air and fuel through the transfer ports) I would check the reeds too make sure they are all there and close completely. The only other thing that could be causing this is a stuck float in one of the carbs, allowing fuel to overflow through the jets even when they are not getting a vacuum signal

  4. Any time you see a motor that is spitting gas back out of the carb you

have a reed problem. If it is only leaking gas then it is probably a carb problem.9 out of 10 times when you have fuel spitting out of the carb you will find that you have a broken reed valve.Good luck.
