Ok.. I am 13 and have been counting for about a year, just practicing basic strategy.

I can go through a deck in about 25 seconds a get a correct count of 0.

Ok so now I have a question.. they say when you get real good at keeping count, you can take a card out of the deck.. face it flat down.. go through... get the count and then know with out seeing it.. what that face down card is..

now how exactely do i do this?

just to clarify I use:

1,2,3,4,5,6 = +1

7,8,9 = 0

10,j,q,k,a = -1

10points to an easy REAL answer.

  1. You don't. Counting will only give tell you if it is a low, high or medium card.

In some cases if you run a separate ace count then if it was an ace you'd know.

  2. Take one card from the 52 leaves 51. Call the card X

After counting 51 cards you will end up with a running count of +1 or -1 or 0

If count is +1 then X is one of the -1 cards.

If count is -1 then X is one of the +1 cards.

If count is 0 then X is one of the 0 cards.

You are learning to count Hi/Lo, so why are you practicing basic strategy when you ought to be learning the Hi/Lo strategy? Basic strategy is merely the Hi/Lo play to use when the TRUE count is 0. Why not learn the strategies for true counts of +1, +2, +3, +4, +5, etc? These are the counts necessary to win money, and therefore it makes good sense to get these strategies dead right rather than play them crudely as basic strategy.

  3. I have an article related to this on my site, which states that counting cards in blackjack is a way to increase your chances of winning........Most card counters keep track of the ratio of high cards, or 10's, by counting them as a +1 or a -1, and then gives the opposite +1 or -1 to the low cards in the deck. Some systems use a balanced count where the number of low cards is the same as the number of 10's...

Land based casinos will not be happy at all if they find out that you are counting cards... You are 13 so don't worry about that, you are far away from going in to casino :)

  4. Your question is easy.

As you already pointed out, when you're finished counting a full deck, your count ends up at zero.  So when you take a card out of the deck, and then you go through the rest of the deck...

When you're at the end, if your count is +1, you know the card you took out must be high value card... something equaling -1.

If your count is at 0, you know that card must be a 7,8, or 9.

If your count is -1, then obviously that last card must be a card equaling +1.
