I have recently started card making and scrapbooking and wondered what the best way was to stick bulky embellishments on to cards and books? I have some gorgeous embellishments but can not seem to get them to stay put!

  1. Definitely use something that's Acid Free!  DO NOT use hot glue or two part epoxy on your scrapbooks!  They will start to turn on your layouts and yellow your books and eat away at the paper!

Do what the last 2 posters have mentioned, Glue dots, which you can get at AC Moore and Michael's or any scrapbook store, or tape runners, Hermafix, etc.  Anything that says it's acid free is fine, anything else is going to damage all the hard work you're doing!

Being you're adhering down bulky items, use glue dots, they're very strong and will keep your items stuck down on the page.  They work great and they've been around for years.  That's what most scrapbookers use for their bulky items.

For other items like pictures and things you can use 2 sided acid free tape, Hermafix, xyron adhesive, etc. Anything that's acid free is great, but don't use epoxys or hot glue in your books.  You're working way too hard to have them ruined over the glue you're using!

    I hope this helps!

  2. Get some glue dots from your scrapbook store. They are super strong and will hold embellishments even heavy ones!

  3. The glue dots and my tape runner work better than glue sticks and other glues for me.  I use a glue pen for something small and lightweight, but not for anything heavier.  I also run things through my Xyron and make stickers out of them and put then on my pages.  The adhesive on that sticks real well.

Another way to fasten embellishments is to use brads and eyelets.  They hold very well.

  4. On small ones I find PVA is quite good and if some does ooze out from behind it dries clear and doesn't show. Bigger pieces I use double sided tape all over the back. I don't recommend sticking heavy embellishments on paper stick to cardstock (pun intended).

  5. 2 pack epoxy resin works very well at sticking anything,,it is clear and fast drying

  6. Hot glue is great, but for paper, you may want to try Rubber Cement.  Takes longer to dry, but will not wrinkle the paper.
