  1. Good card trick are hard to explain actually, lol. The best card trick are those done using sleight of hand. Sleight of hand means using your hands movement to manipulate the card, no need any special trick card.

Double lift is a sleight of lifting up 2 cards as one, from the top of a deck of cards. If you do a double lift, your audience will be looking at the 2nd card, not the actual top card. So, you turn them over again, and you can take the top card and put it in the middle of the deck. With a snap of your fingers, reveal the top card which was the first card.

That's just the basic. Dont do that. people can easily guess.

Double lift is to be used with other slight

For example, instead of revealing the top card, do another double lift to show them that the top card is now a different card. Turn it over and take the top card and ask your audience to hold it, face down. Do some magic and pretend that you switch the card they hold with the first card they saw at the beginning. In effect, its as if you put the first card they saw in the middle of the deck, ask them to hold some other card, and magically switch them.

Ambitious card routine, this is a good one too.

Start with your audience selecting a random card and sign it. As they are signing the card, you secretly tilt the top card of the deck. You tilt up the behind end of the card that is facing you. This create a gap at the that back end between the top card and the rest of the deck. This gap cannot be seen as its facing you.

This is called the Marlo Tilt technique, it makes it look as if you insert a card in the middle of the deck, but you are really inserting it just below the top card. The distance difference as seen from the front look as if the card went into the middle of the deck.

Now to make things look better, you can also secretly pull out the edge of a random card in the middle, this cannot be seen as this side of deck is facing you. Once you slot the card below the top card, turn the deck so that behind face your audience, but as you turn it, you release your top card so the gap is gone. all your audience will see is a card edge jutting out in the middle, it looks as if thats their card.

Do a magic gesture, and do a double lift to reveal their card, it looks like their card went to the top.

But now you are holding 2 card as one, so quickly say you will do it again with a twist, so your audience wont have the chance to inspect their card. Bend the card you are holding, you are bending 2 cards. Not bend sharply, just create a significant curve.

Put both card on top of the deck, face down of course. Divinde the deck into half, and slide the top card onto the bottom pack, and put the top pack on that bend card. Now you have a bend card in the middle, they think thats their card

But remember the now top card is also bend, and that's the actual selected card. How do you conceal this? Before you slide down the top card, hold that top pack with your hand above the pack, and use your first finger to press the card on top. As you slide out the top card, your finger will be on the 2nd card that now becomes the top card, holding down the card.

Once you put both pack together, your left hand is holding the deck from the bottom, gripping the pack of card on the left and right, use your fingers to hold down at the edge of the top card.

This will hold down the bent card on top as you move your right hand away. You are holding at the bent part of the card down. Everything now looks normal. The deck is held together, so the bent card at the middle cannot be seen bent anymore

slightly release the tip of the fingers  (thumb and 2nd finger) that is holding on the side edge of the top card, the card will curved up again since you release the top card now

Snap your right hand finger as you release the top card, this adds some nice effect to your performance

it looks as if the card jump up right to the top

There are many ambitious card routine if you search online, because any effect of rising card can be called that. But this is what I considered to be a true ambitious card routine

In his case, he reveal the card twice before doing the bending thing. That means he start with triple lift.

Do that marlo tilt thing. triple lift for first reveal, take top card put in middle, double lift to reveal again, and then do the bending thing.
